Do think about taking out a subscription ticket for the season.
I know that
because you sing in 3 concerts you may feel that you do not benefit financially
- but, by so doing, you will guarantee a seat for your husband/wife - or friend
for your concerts!
Civic delegations from Freiburg and Guildford will be attending
the Brahms Requiem on 31 October so this
Belshazzar's Feast,
is certain to attract a full house.
on 6 March 1993,
with Willard White - a concert featured in the
Guildford International Music Festival - cannot fail to sell out, as the Mayor
has chosen this as the Annual Civic Concert.
Also, I am sure that you will all
bring supporters to Neville's concert on 25 April 1993!
Unfortunately we have
not had chance to reprint the brochure since the sad death of Sir Charles.
However,
we hope that the programmes will remain as printed.
Jacek Kaspszyk will conduct
the opening concert with John Lill;
James Loughran,
the concert on 5 December;
your Belshazzar's Feast will be conducted by Brian Wright and Tod Handley returns
for the final concert of the season.

Very many thanks to those of you who will be singing the Mozart Reguiem in the
Memorial Concert for Sir Charles Groves on Friday 23 October in Guildford Cathedral
at 8.pm.
En Shao, the young Chinese conductor, who was a very close friend of
Sir Charles, and John Lill, who is a great favourite in Guildford, will be giving
their services.
John will perform Beethoven's 'Emperor' Concerto - which was
included in the last concert that Sir Charles conducted at the Civic Hall.
Neville,
as well as many of the regular members of the GPO have also indicated their intention
to forgo their fees.
Please urge all your friends
to attend as any.proceeds from
the concert will be used to establish a 'Sir Charles Groves' Endowment Fund'
and we shall be discussing with Lady Groves how best any moneys could be used -
hopefully in some way that Sir Charles's name would be permanently associated with
our organisation.
He gave so generously of his time and energy to the Guildford
Music Scheme and we were fortunate to have benefitted from his wisdom for 6 seasons
and we shall all miss him greatly.
Tickets for this concert will be obtainable
shortly from the Civic Hall Box Office or the GPO office.
I look forward to seeing you all again in'September.
Yours sincerely
