Guildford Choir prepares to
Storm Royal Albert Hall to
Celebrate Mahler Centenary.
On Sunday 15th May 2011, Vivace

Chorus, the Choir that has been
delighting Guildford audiences for
over 60 years, will bring together the
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under
the baton of Vivace’s Music Director,

Jeremy Backhouse, the London
Symphony Chorus, The London
Chorus, Romsey Choral Society and
the Tiffin Boys’ Choir to perform

Mahler’s towering “Symphony of
a Thousand” at the Royal Albert
Hall, London, three days before the
centenary of the composer’s death
on 18th May, 1911.

Four hundred

singers from five choirs, eight soloists
and the might of the Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra will pay

homage to one of the greatest
master-musicians of the twentieth
century.

Infrequently performed because of
its requirement for a huge orchestra

and chorus and performance space
to match, this will be a rare
opportunity for Mahler fans to hear
his most majestic and iconic work.
An additional treat is a pre-concert

talk to be given by Mahler expert, Dr
Jeremy Barham, Lecturer in Music at
the University of Surrey who is also a
Guildford resident.
Tickets for this concert range in price

from £5.00 to £40.00 and can be
obtained online from:
www.royalalberthall.com or from the
RAH Box Office on 020 7589 8212.

We are organising coaches from
Guildford to the Royal Albert Hall at
£12 return — contact

tickets@VivaceChorus.org or ring
Michael Taylor on 07958 519 741.

Also, don’t miss the concert on 5th
March at Guildford Cathedral with
pieces from Handel and JS Bach.
