Tonight two Russmn Princes come to life: Prince Igorin Borodin’s dazzllng Polovtsian

Dances and the 13"M-century warrior Prince Alexander Nevsky whois dramatically brought

to life by Prokofiev. The spectacular cantata was fashioned from his 1938 soundtrackto
the epic Eisenstein film, commissioned by Stalin himself. We encounter Crusaders, the
uprising Russian people, the violent “Battle on the Ice”, the wastelands of “The. Fleld of
the Dead” and finally Nevsky's glorious triumph.

Following his stunning performance of Rachmaninov’s 2" Piano Concertoin 2001

Jeremy Filsell, the accompanist of the GPC, returns to enthral us with Rachmamnov s

mighty 3',. ;ano Concerto
